Maine home sales dipped last month but prices continued to surge.

The news published in the latest round of statistics from Maine Listings also revealed an easing in the lack of inventory as the number of homes for sale rose for the 4th month running.

Sales decreased by 4.86% in July compared to the same month last year. The median sales price (MSP) saw an upswing meanwhile, up by a whopping 25.34% from a year ago.

The MSP stood at $315,000 last month – the median sales price indicates half of properties sold for more and half for less.

Over the longer term sales were actually up when compared to two years ago, by around 7% when measuring last month against July 2019.

There was some good news for buyers too. Active single-family listings were up 7.9% in July compared to June, and up a massive 67.3% from the March low of this year.
